Candle Care
A little care goes a long way. Follow these steps for a clean, even burn and the most hours from every refill.
Before you light
- Set your vessel on a level, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, curtains, pets and children.
- Only burn a refill inside its matching-size SCENT SUPPLY vessel. Never light a refill on its own or inside its shipping packaging.
- Trim the wicks to about 1/4 inch (6 mm) before every burn.
The first burn
- Let the wax melt all the way to the edge before you put it out. This usually takes 1 to 3 hours, depending on size, and keeps the refill from tunneling.
Every burn
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep the wicks centered and the melted wax clear of trimmings and debris.
- If a flame gets too tall, smokes or flickers, put it out, let it cool, trim the wicks and relight.
- Use a snuffer or wick dipper for less smoke.
When it’s time to refill
- Let the wax and stone vessel cool completely before touching them—at least 2 hours, and longer if either still feels warm.
- When the refill is finished, use a paper towel to gently pop out the remaining wick plate. Never touch it while hot or force it out with a sharp tool.
- Wipe away any loose residue with a soft, dry cloth, then drop in a fresh refill in the matching size. No melting or pouring needed.
Caring for your vessel
- Wipe your hand-cast stone vessel with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.
- Don’t put it in the dishwasher or soak it in water.
- Wipe up any wax or oil spills promptly.
